Mardi Gras Race Week 2011

Need an outlet for your racing energy this winter?

Headed back from KWRW? Headed up to Charleston? Want To Roll a Finn and rock to the New Orleans rhythms? Then pack up your gear and roll down to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras Race Week OD 2011.

The New Orleans Yacht Club requests your presence for three days of hard core racing… and oh yeah -four nights of partying New Orleans style.

With Mardi Gras culminating on Fat Tuesday, March 8, 2011, the best sailors will just not let the party end and will roll through their hangovers, create new ones and rock the week with some monster one-design sailing on March 10-13 (PHRF Racing takes place March18-20).

This past year’s MGRW saw the first fleet of Moths ever assembled on the lake and the US and Canadian Olympic Finn teams battled it out at New Orleans’ West End. This year promises to come on even stronger with MGRW getting scheduled as the midwinter sites for several classes and the collegiate sailors have finally discovered a great excuse for heading down to the World’s Biggest Free Show on Earth – Mardi Gras.

“This was the best regatta of the year, last year. Hands down. So there was no way I was going to miss it this Mardi Gras.” – US Sailing Team’s Andy Casey
